Movie Night

Our second movie night will be Friday, May 22nd in the fellowship hall. Our first one was a huge success despite cold rainy weather. Over a hundred people turned out. Our May showing will be the popular recent release of "Fireproof". Help is needed with set up, greeting of guests, child care, and clean up. If you and your spouse, your Sunday School class or Lifegroup, or other ministry would like to volunteer contact me. The movie and refreshments are free.

May's mens breakfast.

Our men's breakfast for May is on the 9th. Remember it is always the second Saturday of each month. This month we will meet in the fellowship hall as we have outgrown building H. Invite other men to join us. It doesn't matter if they are Christian or of a different denomination. We all love fellowship and great food.

ONE SUNDAY

Brothers, it was such a blessing to worship with the other brothers at Tech last Sunday. The BASS was well represented in the mixed choir. I love being around brothers.

Men's Fellowship Breakfast

Brothers, it is time once again for our monthly time of fellowship and Ronnie's great cooking. Bring your friends and Easter guests to our breakfast this Saturday at 8:00am. in building H. This time each month has become so special to me. Miss Becky has asked that any of us that have a little time after the breakfast can minister to our children by helping to hide eggs in the fellowship hall. I can't wait to see each of you.

April Men's Breakfast

Our next breakfast is Saturday the 11th of April. It is the day before Easter. It seemed appropriate to have this time of fellowship and worship on the day before our Saviour conquered death, and hell for our salvation. Our brother Gary Henderson will be the speaker for this breakfast. This should be our final breakfast in Building H. Invite someone to come with you and let's celebrate Jesus with fellow brothers in Christ.

BASS Movie Night

The first ever BASS Movie Night was very much a success. I wasn't sure what to expect on a rainy windy Friday night. I just said, "Lord it is in your hands." It was kind of like our last two breakfasts in that I had to keep bringing out chairs. The popcorn machine couldn't keep up with the demand. Everyone was so grateful and many have said they will be back next month. April's movie will be "Facing The Giants". We are in need of couples to help with the next movie night. We were overwhelmed.

FLYWHEEL

Hey guys,

It's less that 48 hours until our ministry shows its first movie to the public. I hope many of you and your families can attend. Since this is a service of our ministry, I need any of you guys and your wives who can, to help greet people, serve refreshments, etc. . Please let me know if you can show up about 6:30. If you aren't sure, and it becomes possible, just show up. We hope this service ministry will provide recreation to our members and become a great outreach to the unchurched. Remember the movie and refreshments are free. Lift this endeavour up in prayer for the next 48 hours. You guys are great and blessed!

The church is being the church.

Steve Waller did a great job inspiring us with a good word. Our HELP branch of BASS has already completed three opportunities to serve. We discussed upcoming opportunities at Lighthouse Christian Camp and elsewhere. To God be the glory!

Men's Breakfast for March

Our breakfast last Saturday was a wonderful time of fellowship. Despite rainy and cold conditions we broke an attendance record. God is working mightily in our church and our ministry. We look forward to seeing you next month.

MEN'S FELLOWSHIP BREAKFAST

Well brothers it's that time again. I always look forward to our monthly time of food and fellowship. God is so good! It was awesome to see all of the brothers at last months breakfast. I am excited to have Steve Waller sharing with us this Saturday. I know that Steve loves the Lord and look forward to hearing from him. The Lord is moving in so many areas of our ministry right now. These are exciting times and we have a great opportunity to rise up and be the church. Bring a friend and I'll see you Saturday. We only have two more breakfasts before we get to move into the fellowship hall. God is so good!

Movie Night

Hey guys. I just wanted to let you know that our first movie night at Stevens Street sponsored by BASS will be on Friday the 27th of this month. We will be showing "Flywheel" which is the first movie made by the producers of "Facing the Giants" and "Fireproof". The movie will begin at 7:00 pm. Refreshments will be available and a nursery will be provided. This will all be free and open to the public. It will be a great opportunity to get unchurched friends to a family movie night. Bring your family and enjoy. To God Be the Glory!

BASS Notes

Hey guys,

This is an invitation. We will have a table at the Missions fair this Sunday March 8, 2009. The Fellowship Hall will be set up with many different missions opportunities for the coming year.

Our Men's ministry BASS will set up a table there to greet guys as they move through the room. We want to make men aware of the opportunities to plug in with other guys and enjoy fellowship as God intended it among men.

Please stop buy for a while before and between services.

In Jesus,

Joey

Pray for our Pastor

To my fellow followers of Jesus. I was reminded this past week of a pressing need that we have as men. The need to pray without ceasing. The need to lift one another up to Almighty God. We can do this because the Blood does speak, as Brother Jimmy taught us Sunday night.

The need I am talking about now however, is to pray EVERY day for our Pastor. I believe with all my heart that the man of God is worthy of double honor. I believe our Pastor should be undergirded by the prayers of the men he has Spiritual responsibility for. Let us pray for God's protection over Bro. Jimmy and his family, His wisdom to lead the people at SSBC, His peace which passes all understanding, and His power in our Pastor's life.

BASS: Please join me in committing to pray for Brother Jimmy and his family every day, not that they are under a particular attack or are in trouble now, but we should mindful of the thought that we should offer prayer for them. I believe if we want to see miraculous healing in the lives of our men and their families, we must fall to our knees before Holy God and plead with Him to move in our men.

Let us be vigilent in this. Pray for your Pastor.

In Jesus,

Joey

Our breakfast this past Saturday was awesome. The Holy Spirit was present. You
could feel the love and fellowship. We had a record attendance. Kevin Birchfield
gave an inspiring word from the Lord. Since it was Valentines Day, BASS had a rose
for each man to take to his wife, mother, or girlfriend.

Please join me in praying for Joan's brother, Bennie. The Lord has brought him so far. He has a bunch of tests to go through to try and get on the heart transplant list. He has a colonoscopy tomorrow. Even this fairly simple test is more risky in his weakened condition. Thank you for all of your prayers. God is in control. I thought his picture would help you picture him in your minds.

OUR MONTHLY TIME OF FELLOWSHIP

Just a reminder that our next men's breakfast is next Saturday (Feb. 14). We will start eating at 8:00am. We will end promptly at 9:00am. Bring a friend and come enjoy this time of fellowship.

Answered Prayer

I would like to thank all of you who have been praying for my brother-in-law, Bennie. We have certainly felt the prayers. He was totally lifeless when I arrived at Vanderbilt on Tuesday. He has been gradually improving a little each day. Let me tell me what his needs are so that you will know how to continue to pray for him. The heart medicine that he has been on since 1996 has damaged his lungs. If the damage is light to moderate, he can still be put on the heart transplant list. If they are heavily damaged there is nothing else they can do. Please continue to pray for Bennie, that his lung damage will be minimal. You guys are a great band of prayer warriors and I look forward to standing in the gap for you at your time of need.

Post Woodstock

Ronnie, Kevin, and Roger having a good time at Woodstock. Press on Brothers.

We had a great trip to Woodstock this year. God answered prayers and built relationships. Men were encouraged and went home with new strength to help their wives and care for their families. We were also challenged to have and maintain our "quiet time" with God and to be involved in discipleship.

I am more persuaded that the Lord wants us to be a big group of small groups. We learn more about each other and can better help one another in small groups. Some of this is proved out in the way we traveled to Woodstock this year....we took 4 - 5 vehicles to transport 29 guys to the conference this year.

I encourage you to keep up with the guys you were spending time with this weekend. Remember the lessons you learned and the conversations you had.

In Jesus,

Joey

Going to Woodstock in the 21st century

Tomorrow we go, again, to First Baptist in Woodstock, Ga. We have nearly 30 guys from SSBC who will make the trip to meet with over 6,000 other men Friday night and Saturday morning. Several of these men have not made a trip like this before. It is my prayer that God breaks through in the lives of these men and they experience Him like never before. I pray that those of us who have been before will meet God fresh and anew and allow Him to have His way with us.

World's Greatest and Humblest Men's Breakfast Chef

People wonder how Ronnie cooks our men's breakfast all by himself every month. His comment," The hands are quicker than the eyes." Seriously. "To God Be The Glory"!

How is your temple?

We know that our bodies are a temple, but some are in need of major refurbishing. As the men of BASS, let's work daily to renew our body, mind, and spirit.

Proclaiming God's Glory

He leadeth me beside the still waters,
He restoreth my soul.

Prayer Request

Hello Guys,

Please pray for Brother Rick's wife, Amy.

Getting Ready

Hello Guys,

This time next Friday we will be through the first sessions of the conference at FBC Woodstock. It will be good for us to pray for God to prepare our hearts for what He has in store for us next weekend.

I know we will be challenged and blessed.

In Jesus,

Joey

NEEDS, PRAYER REQUESTS, AND PRAISES

Men, this is where you can add any prayer requests, needs, or praises. Please feel free to add anything that we should know about. At this time, Don Green is doing better. I saw him at church last night. I understand that Jim Copeland is recovering at home. Has anyone heard about Lehman Riggs in the last couple of days? Adam Ely is looking for an engineering job. Anthony Kilgore needs more flooring jobs. These are all I can remember at this time (I feel another senior moment coming on).

FEBRUARY MEN'S BREAKFAST

Our breakfasts continue to get better and better. The Holy Spirit's presence can be felt more each month. You can literally feel the fellowship and love at every meeting. Everyone come and bring someone with you. Our speaker for February will be Kevin Birchfield. Ronnie Greenwood continues to do a great job cooking the breakfast and he brought four other people with him to the breakfast. See you there!

great idea

Great idea.
